Avoid dryer fires by using these common sense dryer vent tips:
Keep your lint screen clean.
Remove loose lint and debris from behind the dryer.
Make sure your vent piping is as short as possible.
Make sure the venting is continuous from the dryer to the outside: Not into the attic, or into a wall!
Don’t use the dryer with any flammables.
Replace kinked, plastic, foil, or vinyl transition hoses.
Hire a licensed Appliance repairman to clean the interior of the dryer on occasion.
Remove any screen on the exhaust vent.
Read the manufacturers manual and make sure the installation complies with it. If it doesn’t, it could be the difference between insurance coverage, warranty coverage, or loss due to negligence.
Have a professional clean and inspect your dryer vent regularly every 1-2 years, especially when you notice drying time seems to have increased!
