What Is Involved In Chimney Cleaning?

A cloth tarp is laid out in front of the fireplace along with our tools and equipment.
We visually inspect the fireplace and flue for potential hazards.
With the vacuum running, we sweep the fireplace chimney.
Chimney Brushes with flexible rods are used to sweep the flue and smoke chamber, and hand brushes for the firebox and damper opening to remove creosote deposits. If the chimney cap is safely accessible it’ll be inspected and cleaned during the process.
Creosote is bagged or vacuumed and disposed of.
Finally, hearth is wiped down and work area left clean.
Our visual inspection findings are noted on our invoice or evaluation forms. If there are issues requiring attention, we typically take photos and discuss remedies with the homeowner.

How Long Does It Take To  Sweep A Chimney?

A single standard chimney cleaning takes approximately 30 minutes depending on how dirty it is. If a WETT inspection is required at the same time, it may involve more time. The age of the home, length and amount of chimneys are factors affecting job scheduling

How To Prepare For Chimney Cleaning

Remove all ash from the inside of the fireplace. Ash removal is not part of the chimney cleaning fee.
Ensure there is a minimum of 5 feet of work space in front of the fireplace or appliance being serviced.
Remove any valuables near the fireplace to avoid possibility of damage.
